There has been a new opening in the entrepreneurial frontier, but is it a new movement? Social entrepreneurs like Marc Sparks have been widely lauded in the media lately. The rise in this form of social change has been aided by the proliferation of the digital universe. The effects of the digital revolution on the entire world cannot be understated in any aspect of society, but it especially excels at connecting people. This connection has had the effect of shrinking the expanses of the world greatly. It has also made business global instantly as well as made worldwide ills very visible. Entrepreneurs are natural problem solvers, and when they encounter these daunting issues, they automatically map out solutions. However, by doing this, the question of why nothing has been done to rectify these situations if they can be readily solved has to be asked.
Social entrepreneurs fill the gap that traditional business and governments cannot or will not, but instead of placing their own capital into solving these problems, they apply entrepreneurial principles in solving the problems effectively and sustainably. They are also able to initiate this change on a wide scale, and scaling is an entrepreneurial tenet. Some social entrepreneurs have been able to initiate change to entire societies by employing techniques to achieve an idea rather than profit. Entrepreneurs also have to take lofty ideas and make them viable solutions, and this takes a measure of realism above what is common in most people. This type of entrepreneur also has to sell people on their ideas over a very wide scale in easily understandable and easily implementable ways.
Often, people who are already successful in the business world will utilize social entrepreneurship to solve social issues. Former president Carter utilized social entrepreneurship to start Habitat of Humanity. This organization builds homes for low income people that earn equity by working to build homes for people in the same situation. The term sweat equity is the entrepreneurial principle utilized in that venture. Successful entrepreneur Marc Sparks shows that social entrepreneurship can be applied to any level of issue to empower people. He personally utilizes social entrepreneurship to empower budding start-up entrepreneurs with mentorship from successful entrepreneurs.
By doing this, he allows the budding entrepreneurs to gain insight that they would have otherwise not been subject to incurring. The information they gain is invaluable, and relationships can be started that benefit them for their entire careers. People can learn more from successful people than can be had from people that simply like to maintain the status quo or that have failed because success is a mindset that can endure failure, still overcome the obstacles and maintain perspective.
There is nothing better then an uplifting news story that touches your heart. The ones that always get me are the reunions of individuals that have been a great impact on each others lives. Typically these are American soldiers who are mothers and fathers just like you and I that have been fighting for our country and away from their children. But today there was another one that grabbed my heart and that was the story of Mike Hughes and Dawnielle Davison. Mike Hughes was the captain of the Wenatchee Washington fire department. When they first met she was just nine months old when Hughes save her from her burning house. Their reunion occurred at her high school graduation. She weighed heavily on his mind for years before he reached out and found her social media. He sent her a note that said “I think I pulled you out “Oh yeah what was my mom doing?” Mike knew just what to say in his responsive saying “Well she was at work and your dad was there.” They have since stayed in contact and he just recently watched her graduate high school. It was an honor for them both knowing if it weren’t for him she wouldn’t have been here to do so stated Beneful.
When it comes to commercial real estate in the Houston area, there is one name that is without parallel. Haidar Barbouti has personified real estate, both in the USA and internationally for well over 20 years. Not only has he created many shopping malls, office buildings and various other commercial properties, he has been a staunch advocate for animals and children in need through his philanthropic endeavors.
Perhaps his most famous property is his flagship Highland Village shopping center. After a trip to Europe where he ate at the numerous open air café’s Haidar decided that he would like something similar for the rooftop area of the East end of Highland Village. Finding no suitable tenant, but knowing with certainty that a restaurant would be the perfect tenant to occupy the space, Haidar stepped out on a limb and decided to open a restaurant of his very own. With no culinary degree, no experience in the restaurant business Mr. Barbouti knew good food. He knew what people like, and he knew that he could make a go of it. Armed with his strong opinions about food and how a restaurant should be run, he opened “UP” in his Highland Village development.
When Up opened, the interesting thing was the owner’s take on running a restaurant. He famously said, “It’s not about what I want; it’s what the customer wants,” Fed up with places that offer frilly plates that look more like paintings than actual food and with the tiny portions, Haidar Barbouti set about making Up a different type of place. Nestled on the rooftop, Up is only accessible by elevator. The clientele tends to be the fashionable set; those who want to see and be seen. It’s not trendy food, it’s just good food in decent sized portions. Highland Village is known as one of the most sought after high end retail spaces in Texas. It has the feel of a Los Angeles shopping district, with its Starbucks and J. Crew stores and palm trees. Mr. Barbouti has been at the helm as the owner of this astounding shopping center for 23 years. His guidance has made it into one of the best known, most sought after shopping districts anywhere in the United States.
The extraordinary success of Highland Village can partially be attributed to its optimal location; however the lion’s share of the credit for the success of this ritzy address is due to Haidar Barbouti. His steady hand on the rudder has guided this ship into the stratosphere of profit, accessibility and prestige when it comes to retail locations in Houston. With Mr. Barbouti at the helm, this franchise will continue to go up.
The American people have continually used the Presidential campaign sector as a concrete venue to voice their concerns. For citizens brave enough to do that, they are often met with support from Presidential candidates who are willing to do what they have to do to gain a large margin of votes. BuzzFeed News reached out to the LGBT community to find out what they want from the presidential hopefuls. In recent years, the LGBT community has been neglected and often silenced. Fortunately for them, with the assistance of Allies who want to support the community, LGBT members are finally being called on to voice their opinions in the political realm. The majority of the parties running have made it apparent that LGBT issues are their issues too. So what does the LGBT community actually want? The four biggest factors for LGBT people are: conversion therapy, HPV vaccines for boys, spousal veto, and the recognition of sexual orientation on death certificates. All of the candidates have responded to these concerns in a pro-LGBT manner. They are against conversion therapy, they believe all citizens should be protected from HPV, spousal vetoes need to be dealt with immediately, and the proper data needs to be collected for LGBT people upon death. Much of the community has rejoiced with this knowledge but there are some who are not pleased. They raise some concern when they wonder if these elected officials will actively keep the promises that they are making. MarketWired says that for the sake of the LGBT community, hopefully these candidates can keep their promises and keep the established trust between themselves and LGBT people and allies such as Paul Mathieson.
Christian Trouesdale, an 18-year-old stock assistant who works at the Aldi in Horwich, Greater Manchester was recently https://www.facebook.com/Youniquebybrady/posts/10206133693811604?pnref=story helping an elderly customer take his shopping bags all the way home. The customer, 95-year-old Bob Molloy, lives alone a few blocks away from the store. The photograph was taken by 23-year-old Samantha-Jayne Brady, who is a worker at a fish and chips shop nearby the Aldi store. She posted the photo and asked people to share the photo because she wanted people to know that there was still kindness and patience in the world.
When interviewed, Trousdale said that this was the second time that he had helped the older gentleman home. The Spirit of Atlanta and Bruce Levenson are proud of this young man. He said the first time was when Molloy came in on a particularly windy day and asked his manager if it would be alright. The manager agreed that it was the right thing to do, and Trousdale patiently helped the man, who was not very agile walk with his groceries all the way home. The second time, which was a week later, was when Malloy came in and asked him to do it. Trousdale said he enjoyed helping and talking to the man, who knew plenty of things about the history of the town and of local politics.
In fact, Trousdale had such a positive experience helping Molloy, that he has since begun visiting him from time to time just to check in.

Costa Rica, the Central American country, has achieved 75 days without using any power other than renewable energy. It is a record, and the heavy rainfall in the region helped out. The hydroelectric plants allowed the country to refrain from burning traditional fuel since December of last year.
While small, almost 5 million people live in Costa Rica. Last year 80% of their energy came from the hydroelecric facilities and now renewables are the government’s plan going forward due to their geographic advantages that allow them to utilize water and heat (geothermal energy).
In an effort to avoid using fossil fuels, the government has spent almost a billion dollars of upcoming technologies. The first plant is supposed to generate enough electricity for about 50,000 homes from geothermal sources.
According to what Bernardo Chua said on Facebook, Costa Rica has excellent processes in place to handle the switchover, as their tax base is largely funded from expats who become citizens. Many of these expats are wealthy individuals from the United States and elsewhere, coming to Costa Rica for the weather, cost of living, and friendly tax-laws that prevent foreign entities from retrieving cash from Costa Rican bank accounts.
The World Economic Forum has put Costa Rica at #2 behind Uruguay for the use of electricity in terms of competition on a global scale.
To exemplify the dedication to renewables by the government, they have opted not to use their oil deposits in order to help the environment.
