A New Way to Donate

GoFundMe is a crowd sourcing site used to generate income for various projects and charities. We all know that though right? Well Avi Weisfogel has decided to use it in a way that’s well new. Avi isn’t asking for money for himself, or his company, instead he is asking for money to donate to Operation Smile.

Operation Smile is an international charity that assist in providing surgery for children born with cleft palate, cleft lip, and other facial deformities. “Operation Smile believes that every child deserves exceptional surgical care and that all children deserve to be treated as if they were our own. The organization wants to ensure that every child knows no matter what life throws at them, they will always have hope.” as stated by Avi in a recent interview. His belief is that every child deserves the very best care available.

The charitable organization founded in 1982 assist with providing on location medical care. While it was originally founded to operate in the Philippines it now operates on a global level. Operation Smile provides medical equipment, training, and personal through it’s location specific missions.

Avi Weisfogel hopes to raise $2000 to donate to the charity so he can do his part in helping children to have hope. Providing children with surgeries that they otherwise could not obtain does indeed create hope. Hope that when we are faced with adversity there is a way to over come it, that there are people in the world with a mission to support each other in overcoming the hurtles that our world throws at us. Stand Together is Charles Koch’s Latest Initiative to Help the Poor

USA Today published an article by Fredreka Schouten titled “Koch brothers’ new group will take on poverty, educational quality.” Fredreka discusses Charles Koch’s new non-profit organization called Stand Together which looks to raise $15 million this year to focus on alleviating poverty, raising educational standards and strengthen American society. The goal of Stand Together is to help people by solving real problems by working with private groups who are directly involved in dealing with social problems like gang violence, drug abuse and jail recidivism. Organizers have been working on Stand Together for a year and will launch this week at an annual seminar in Palm Springs for Koch donors.

Charles Koch and his brother David have long been involved in political advocacy and social philanthropy that targets improving poor communities through improving education and promoting free-market principles. A couple of the programs they have created include Americans for Prosperity which helps people become financially independent and the Libre Initiative which is a political and economic outreach program to the Latino community. They have contributed millions of dollars for scholarships to the United Negro College Fund, and aides to Charles Koch have been working with the Obama administration to try to overhaul the criminal justice system.

Koch Industries was inherited by Charles and David from their father back in the late 1960’s. It was originally a chemical processing company, but Charles and David transformed it into a multi-faceted company that produces everything from agricultural products to consumer products. Koch Industries has become the second largest privately held company in the US and has provided Charles with an estimated net worth of $41 billion.

Charles has used his wealth to donate millions of dollars a year to charitable causes and influence the political system. Education in poor communities has long been an issue of concern for Charles, and part of the purpose of the Stand Together program is to provide scholarships to poor children to put them in private schools.

A Mann on a Mission

Aesop stated that no act of kindness is ever wasted. It seems that Keith Mann follows this rule in his life and has become a very charitable New York philanthropist. Since the early 2000’s, Mr. Mann has worked with Dynamic Executive Search where he discovered a hedge fund area that needed more lime light in the search industry. By 2009, he established and is currently the CEO of Dynamic Search Partners.

Although Keith has seen success, he has not been greedy with money. In early 2015 Keith donated to to help classroom projects become a reality for some very deserving classrooms,. “Dynamics Search Partners held a fundraiser for New York’s Uncommon Schools organization, collecting $22,000 to help low-income students go to college,” (PRNewswire, 2015).

Mr. Mann has expanded his generosity to the New York Police Department as well in 2015. “Our officers deserve to be thanked for their service, not attached in their attempts to keep people safe,” (Keith Mann, 2015). Yet, the generosity does not stop there. Now, in 2016 Mann has chosen to start a scholarship program at New York Uncommon Schools.

Once again, Keith Mann has shown what an outstanding philanthropist he is. Starting at the end of February 2016, “one graduating senior each year at one Uncommon Schools’ will receive a 5,000 dollar scholarship to apply toward tuition,” (Business Wire, 2016). This scholarship will surely be a foot in the right direction to help high school students in the Uncommon Schools’ District step up to the challenge to go to college.

Weisfogel Helps People With Sleep Issues and Dental Issues

People with sleep apnea have lots of issue possibilities with their life. Some may have problems with diabetes and others with high blood pressure. All of the body parts require oxygen constantly. When a person is diagnosed with sleep apnea it is probably because they went to a sleep study. The sleep study is a result of symptoms the doctor has picked up on. People that are overweight may need to undergo a sleep study, as a requirement to go through with a bypass surgery. Most weight loss surgeons ask their patients to do a few challenges to see if they are serious about the surgery.

Dr. Avi Weisfogel is one of the doctors that may contribute to the diagnosis of sleep apnea. He may realize that a person is having issues sleeping when he sees how their teeth are set. A person may have a tongue that drops into the throat causing snoring. Avi Weisfogel helps people by setting up appliances like dental appliances and maybe the sleep study he thinks a person may need. He also works with the people to make to make sure if they need sleep guards or c-pap. He makes sure the people see the right specialists for their needs.

Avi Weisfogel established a business called Old Bridge Dental Clinic in 1999. He received his education from Rutgers University and then NY College of Dentistry. With a BA in Psychology and Biology, he is able to put two and two together when he needs to diagnose something. He has a history of earning several awards and working with several different agencies to provide care to the people of New York and New Jersey.

Providing other dental professionals with dental coaching is one thing that Dentist Avi Weisfogel is doing. He is also doing lectures and is the co-founder of Healthy Heart Sleep. People that have slept issues may end up having other issues such as heart disease and diabetes. With oxygen issues, diabetes, weight gain and heart problems are normal. Dental problems and sleep problems go together a lot. A good explanation for this is the tongue falling back into a person’s throat and blocking the windpipe. People that are interested in having dental exams and some dental things done may go through Operation Smile for a free or discount in dental care. Weisfogel is working to help people by volunteering his time with the non-profit agency and by helping set up the GoFundMe for Operation Smile. To Serve and Protect

Keith Mann of New York City, founder of Dynamic Search Partners, and his wife are stepping forward to lend support and boost moral to the New York City Police Department by sending lunch in early January and again in February to the 54th precinct after negative publicity and protests surrounding the police force. Mr. Mann feels a connection with the NYPD because he has an uncle who is a detective in Staten Island. He knows the hardships and sacrifices that officers make on a daily basis. This is part of the job when you sign up to be a police officer.

Keith Mann decided that publicly thanking the police department would boost moral and increase public awareness of how important a job they do. It would also encourage them and let them know that many people trust and depend on them for their service. He wanted to relay the message that not everyone distrusts them. Because of the increase in crime, he feels that policemen are more at risk than ever before. With a growing number of civilians protesting and angry with police procedures he felt it was important to send another message. He wanted to send the message that a policeman’s job is of the utmost importance and without them, we would have chaos and be crime ridden.

Being a high profile businessman in New York City helped him get his message across. People rely on leaders and Keith Mann is a leader. He supports the NYPD and the gesture and message he sent was clear. NYPD, you are appreciated and trusted. Thanks for all you do.
