LocationSmart is a privately held American company that gives companies a way to track assets, workers, and consumers. They are able to track their assets around the world whether they’re in the process of being delivered or sitting inside a warehouse. In real-time, they can track where their workers are and get real-time job status reports. Companies are able to track their customers to provide services such as roadside assistance.
This company is headquartered in Carlsbad, California. LocationSmart is led by Co-Founder and Chief Executive Mario Proietti. The other co-founder, Masoud Motamedi, is the president. Other top executives include Chief Technology Officer Stuart Donovan, VP of Product Management & Marketing Brenda Schafer, and Director of Operations Adam Snethen.
It recently expanded its services in Canada. LocationSmart added consent-based access in addition to their existing services including short message service, secure carrier network locations, and consent management services. Over 90% of Canadians can now use this company’s services.
Both the short message service and network location service works with every major Canadian wireless carrier as well as most of their smaller brands. A company first gets the consent of a subscriber and can then track where their mobile device is in real time. The subscriber doesn’t have to install an app or any other software to be tracked. LocationSmart takes the security and privacy of subscribers very seriously. Its platform has carrier-grade security protocols and extensive, customizable privacy controls for subscribers. Any type of device that uses a cellular connection can be tracked including smartphones, tablets, Internet of Things devices, etc.
All of these devices are tracked in real time which can be done for many reasons. It might be to make sure a person is where one of their financial transactions is being processed, gaming compliance reasons, or to provide them help if they’re stuck on the side of the road.
Mario Proietti said that the expansion of what LocationSmart provides in Canada will lead to innovative services being created. He said that the expansion also resulted in his company being better able to support their customers.
The expansion had been in a Beta program since the beginning of 2018, he said, and was tested in several industries. A number of companies began using the release version in November 2018 and more were in the queue to get started.
