Now is the Time to Donate

During certain times of the year, it is easy to get people excited for giving. Running clothing drives and fundraisers during the Christmas holiday season is sure to bee a huge hit and bring in plenty of donations. While this a great way to stock up on much needed items for low income families, it does not always help these causes throughout the whole year.

With spring right around the corner, many of us will be cleaning out our closets, basements, attics and other storage areas. Instead of simply tossing our unneeded items in the trash, we should all look for ways to donate them as Flavio Maluf has noted. Just about every city in America has some sort of donation drive or charity that will gladly accept donations of clothes, electronics, cash and more. Charities like Kloz 4 Kidz in Marysville, Washington, accept donations all year long to help their families and children. In 2014, this growing charity was able to help almost 1,000 children stay clothed.

If you don’t feel like simply giving your things away for free, there are charities and programs that you can deduct when you file your annual taxes. Goodwill Industries is one of the largest organizations accepting donations that can be deducted. Donations to Goodwill Industries are sold in their stores all across the country and help fund training programs for unskilled workers, education for needy families and a lot more.
